“Land banking” is a phrase you’ll see in property marketing. Here’s a plain explanation.

What it means

Land banking usually means buying land and holding it for a period of time, rather than building straight away.

Why people do it

  • To secure land now for a home later
  • To lock in a location they like
  • To plan a future move, such as retirement

What to consider

  • Holding costs like rates and land tax
  • Your plans for the land, and when
  • Whether you need the money for anything else in the meantime
  • That the value of any property can go up or down

At Hidden Valley

There’s no time limit to build, so buyers can choose when to build. The deposit is $10,000 and settlement is expected in mid-2027.

No promises We don’t make predictions about future prices. Do your own research and get independent financial advice.
