How to plan a sea change, step by step

A sea change is a big decision. Here's a practical way to plan it.

Thinking about moving to the coast? Here’s a practical plan.

1. Get clear on why

Space, the beach, a slower pace, retirement or family? Your reasons shape where and what you buy.

2. Research the town

Look at services, healthcare, transport and community. Read living in Dongara and Port Denison.

3. Visit

Spend a few days there. Walk the beach, eat at the cafes and drive to the nearest city.

4. Secure the land

At Hidden Valley, a $10,000 deposit secures a lot, with settlement expected mid-2027.

5. Plan the build

Choose a builder, finalise the design and get Shire approval.

6. Plan the move

Sort out work, schooling, healthcare and the logistics of the move itself.
